With pound-for-pound great Floyd Mayweather Jr. stirring the talk about a potential bout against the UFC featherweight champ Conor McGregor, here comes a wild card in the equation. Nate Diaz, the man who stopped the Notorious Express in its tracks at UFC 196 took to twitter this time claiming that it is he, and not the Irishman who can do the dance in a boxing ring with the 'pretty boy'. Both the Diaz brothers have been known to routinely spar with world class boxers, one of them being the top pound-for-pound fighters, Andre Ward who has always spoken highly of Nate's boxing skills. "He's hard to fight. I mean he's really hard to spar. They call it the Stockton slap, and he'll slap you to death, and I don't mean that in a bad way" the boxer said. "I sparred with Nick and Nate. Nate helped me get ready for Chad (Dawson). He always comes in shape and he throws a million punches from a million different angles." "I'm a world class fighter, and they more than hold their own. They're tough as nails," he said. "Nate throws a lot more punches than Nick, and he throws them from all different angles." "Those guys can compete in boxing, just pure stand up. Those boys got hands." Now when an undefeated top pro-boxer endorse you like that you are to be taken seriously. No wonder Diaz is making a claim to be in on the big-money fight and he has a proof to back it up. Or maybe he's just had enough of all the ridiculous headlines about "Notorious" crossing over to boxing to trade blows with Mayweather and is playing the party pooper. Not because the fight is never going to happen, but rather because in his opinion the fierce Irish striker is not the most qualified man in MMA for the job. As for now there has been no word from Mayweather's side whether he's actually spoken to the UFC as to who owns McGregor's contract, but it seems unlikely that the rumor mill regarding the bout is going to die down any time soon. Watch this space folks. author
